There are a number of different programs run out of the library to meet the varied needs of our patrons. Read the descriptions below to see if any of our programs are of interest to you.

We want to offer varied programming that appeals to the diversity of residents of Peace River and the surrounding area. If you have any ideas for programs, or would like to help start a program yourself, please contact us. We would love to hear from community members about what they would like to see offered from their library!

The library is a space meant for community use. If you have a group who could benefit from using the library for meetings or gatherings, please contact us.

 Lunchtime Lecture Series   -   Great Authors of the Western Literary Tradition


An educational course on DVD from The Teaching Company

Great Authors of the Western Literary Tradition, 2nd Edition is your chance to survey over 70 literary geniuses and masterpieces of Western literature. In 84 lectures taught by five award-winning professors who are experts in particular literary time periods, you explore the vast collection of Western writers and their respective works. (Homer, Plato, Dante, Shakespeare, Dickens, Woolf, Austen, and many more).

Peace River and District Genealogy Branch

GENEALOGYThe Peace River & District Genealogy Branch is a non-profit organization based in the Peace River region. The group joined the Alberta Genealogy Society in May 2000. The Branch provides people interested in their family history with a network of individuals who can provide support and assistance with genealogical research and resources.

Storytime

STORYTIME

Fridays 10:30 am / Saturdays 2:00 pm

Children ages 3-5 are welcome to join us on Fridays and Saturdays for stories and a craft! Also we have just started bilingual story time on Saturday afternoons! We read two stories (one in english, one in french) and make a craft. Storytime is an exciting opportunity for your child to interact with other children their own age while enjoying stories and crafts. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Summer Reading Program

The TD Summer Reading Club runs every summer during the months of July & August. The Peace River Municipal Library invites kids ages 4-12 to participate in this fun interactive program. This program is free thanks to the sponsorship of TD Bank and Peace Library System. The theme for 2012 is Fantasy!MP900412072
